Internationalt seminar med Bernard Roberts
DSPBU afholder internationalt 1 dags seminar med Bernard Roberts.
Dato: Lørdag d. 30. oktober 2021 kl. 9-16.
Bernard Roberts er psykoanalytiker fra det Britiske Psykoanalytiske Selskab og leder af den Psykoanalytiske Børne- og Ungeklinik i London.
Han vil denne dag præsentere sit årelange psykoanalytiske arbejde med to klienter, hhv. en 6-årig pige med misbrugsbaggrund og en 17-årig dreng med en oral deformitet. Et fælles tema i begge forløb er kroppens betydning i det analytiske arbejde. Dagen vil desuden lægge op til fælles drøftelse og mulighed for live supervision.
Introduktion:
The title of the first paper is ‘A child’s use of her body to communicate with her analyst’. I use extracts from the analysis of a six year old girl to illustrate the way bodily actions are used to communicate painful internal struggles and meanings. In child analysis there is often bodily contact with the analyst and I include the ways in which the child uses both her own body and parts of the analyst’s body in this process. The struggles came alive in moving ways in the to and from of the transference and countertransference and were often dramatised in the child’s relationship with her body. The narrative is accompanied by some of the drawings the little girl made.
The title of the second is, ‘The Hidden Secret – Ego Distortion in Facial Deformity – some reflections on the analysis of an eighteen year old boy’. It is about a boy who was born with an enlarged tongue that eventually required surgical treatment. The trauma of disfigurement in childhood and the further trauma of interventional treatment and the associated unconscious impulses and defences can become organised in pathological ways in the attempt to negotiate a stable adult ego. These are particularly difficult to change when the underlying condition remains active and there is a permanent disfigurement. The paper is accompanied by an illustration of somatic representation in the cortex of the brain.
